It has been a month since we adopted Kehlani (aka Lucy) through Colorado Feline Foster Rescue and we are so happy with our new addition. She is a gift and a blessing. I have been a cat lover my entire life but I have never adopted a cat through a rescue before. I was skeptical at first because I had heard that the application/interview process for rescues tended to be long and once the process was completed you could still be rejected. That was not the case with CFFR. I submitted an application through their website on a Saturday and got an email saying I was approved Sunday. What I loved about the rescue is that all the cats are fostered out so the foster families really get a feel for their personalities and behavior.  I knew I needed a spunky, high energy, non-timid, kitten (I had a 6 mo  crazy boy and a 10 yr grumpy old lady cat) but I still wanted them to be cuddly. So my daughter and I did a lot of research into the kittens by reading each one’s bio/story. We had 3 possibilities but chose Kehalani as our first pick. When we met her for the first time we got to ask the foster mom all kinds of questions about her personality and health to make sure that we both felt like she would be a good fit. I think this is an important part of the process. When you adopt from a shelter you may get a little bit of information but you still don’t know what you are going to get. My house is complete now. We hopefully, won’t need to get another cat for the next 16 years but if we do I will definitely go through CFFR. I have recommended this organization to my friends and I recommend them to anyone searching for a new feline companion. You can tell that the staff and foster families really have a heart for cats. I have adopted two cats from CFFR: Luna Lovegood over two years ago and Tobias about 2 weeks ago. I could not be happier! Kris, Carol, Cari, Heather, and Tobias’ foster mom Alison were amazing. They are all so knowledgeable and a great resource for all of my questions about how to raise a kitten and about cats in general. They truly care about these cats and want to make sure they find the right forever homes. I admire all cat rescues (all animal rescues for that matter), however I chose CFFR because these cats are able to grow and thrive in a home with caring foster parents who take the time to socialize them and provide one-on-one care. That makes such a difference. The caring goes beyond the adoption too. They make sure to reach out and ask how things are going and ready to answer any questions I might have. Our kitten is settling in and we are all in love!  Everyone has CFFR has been amazing from first contact.   Our kitten's foster Mom was communicative and created a warm environment for our first meet up with our kitten and the application process was clear and straight forward. I wish there was a negetive star so I could rate it more than 1 negetive star! I had hopes of adopting a kitten through this organization and got shot down quickly after a "careful consideration" by Kris who's reason was "difference on philosophy" whatever thats supposed to mean. It sounds so judgemental to me. I only answered every question of the 7 page adoption form. I will be adopting a kitten somewhere else so its ok but from the way Kris judges sounds like shes a real nice lady, NOT!
